Places to Go

In Uniondale’s heyday over a century ago, the town was a stopover for supplies coming from the coast and being moved to the hinterland. Wood from Knysna was hauled over the mountains to Uniondale, where it was cured. Wagon making was one of the many industries, and these days the town acts as the hub for the many “spokes” or routes to other Little Karoo and Garden Route attractions.

Uniondale often plays host to vintage and veteran car clubs, who pass through on their way to rallies.

These ‘grand old ladies’ are a great attraction in the town, looking very at home in the main street with its Victorian and Cape Dutch buildings.

Below are some of the popular routes in the Uniondale Area.
